Finally another car

Well, today I finally bought another car and put an end to driving this Kangoo which was okay for some time but not what I consider to be a proper car. So now it’s an Audi Quattro Avant. Yeah. I feel like having a car again.

I was years ago already having an Audi Quatto and liked it very much. So after I decided it’s the time for a change I had the urgent need to have again a Quattro. Today I feel blissful, already drove 400km with the car.

Relocation from dedicated server to vserver accomplished

Last evening I started relocation of all services from my old dedicated server to a vserver at another location. So I have to say bye bye old fellow, I am not going to miss you so much. But thanks anyways for (usually) being so reliable.

These days I can have better performance for less money. And I can spent the money in things like pizza, beer and so on in our family money socks. Yeah!

This is 2010

Well, I was just deleting all the spam messages caught by akismet in the couple last days and noticed this site got no update since late 2009. Looks like it’s not just others being busy with other things to do.  Happy 2010 for everyone with all the best – Emil

P.S.: If you wonder what I look like since we have last met in person – I have reworked my favourite self-portrait:

Bad times for the once beloved

I was having my break and I found this picture:

And as a response I got from my colleague another picture:

While these pictures are funny they also express common past, present and future deficits of many beings – the lack of sincerity and solidarity.

Yummy for the tummy

After I returned home from a vacation much too short I am now alone at home for another week – the family is spending some more time in vacation. Soooo. I have to feed myself.
This is what I have created in less than 40 minutes without any recipe – a pizza. And no, it is not convenience food.

Take some flour, cheese, tomato sludge, water, yeast, salt, olive oil, olives, onions, garlic, more vegetables and scramble it until you have a homogeneous pulp and smear it onto the baking sheet.

The joy of recreation

Still a few more days to go and then, finally, we go on a crusade into the unknown, uhm – we leave early in the morning for the southern districts of Germany. We are going to enjoy the culinary delights of the Frankish kitchen. Yummy. And I’d like to hike the woods and explore some unhasty creeks in hope to catch some fish and maybe to take some pictures. I have recently revived my Pentax MZ-5 and bought a nice lens for it. Whatever, this is something we all are very much looking forward. The boys will enjoy playing in a real garden with lots of green, we can share some time with their grandparents and leave the everyday life behind. This is going to be very nice. And I suppose we can leave the boys  alone at their grandparents for an evening and have some time for ourselves. A brilliant idea, indeed.

Godspeed friend!

A nice guy has left by surprise. We would like to say goodbye. And that we are sorry we will not meet you again – you’ll be missed. Farewell, Oliver!

Our condolence to his family.

A day on the baltic coast

Last Sunday I have been fishing. I didn’t meet with Marco, he was busy. So I got invited to join Peter and he fetched me by car on Sunday morning. We left heading north towards the vast shores of Wagria. After one hour continuous driving we were already almost there. Just a final stop to buy another candy bar on the gas station and then it was only a few more minutes to reach the beach. We there met some more friends and had six hours of excessive fly fishing. Unfortunately no fish, though.

Altogether it was nontheless a nice day on the coast and we had plenty of fun.

When I arrived at home I expected something like “Oh where’s the fish?”. I prayed to the gods we would at least have some fish fingers in the fridge. But it was alright without fish as everyone at home knew I had a good day.

SEO fscking

Funny, today I had some interesting hits in my log, someone came from a page with an engine spying for the keywords used on my page. Now I got curious and did some research. I indeed noticed that if someone searches via google for example hp compaq 6715 b, hp compaq 6715b, et cetera I am very close behind top ranking pages of mighty HP itself. I am doing strong promotion for nothing. What a shock. Hey, come on – please give me an hp 6715 b or something comparable, I really enjoyed it a lot! So I already knew that on various topics my page has good ranking on google.com like vm workstation for linux,  vmware linux 2.6.27 or flowplayer and dvgrab. And guess what? I have no clue about SEO. And guess somewhat else. This post is simple SEO done in 5 minutes.

P.S. If anyone at HP Compaq wants his name eternally remembered – you know what do ;P

Building another fly rod part 2

Due to given circumstances I have not been able to kick off this project earlier. On the 23rd of February we had a great handwork evening at home – Sarah was tailoring next to me and I was glueing the grip and wrapping the guides onto the fly rod blank.

I bought my parts from the US and Germany. The main reason for this is plain simple. In Germany I haven’t found any dealer for the stripping guides.

  • Loop Green Line series blank  in 9′3″ and the specified line class is #6-7
  • Cork Fly Rod Grip Reverse Half Wells – supreme quality
  • Fuji Concept Stripping Guides – SiC ring in 16 and 12 /w Chrome finish
  • Struble Fly Rod Reel Seat – Standard Uplocking U-3 – Polished Alum. /Cocobolo
  • Pacific Bay Snake Guides in 2,2,2,2,3,4,5 Chrome finish
  • Pacific Bay Fly Rod Tip Top – Chrome finish / Std. loop / size 5 tube
  • Pacific Bay Aluminum Winding Check – TiCH finish / 0.342 in. I.D.

On Sunday I am going to take it with me to the coast. I am already very excited.
